Mental health therapy (aka counselling) is talk therapy, it is collaborative in that the client and the counsellor work together to achieve client-oriented goals. People that come to a counsellor are often struggling with controlling their emotions (i.e. depression, anxiety, anger, shame). Some are finding it difficult to cope with past struggles, some are finding it difficult to move forward or sometimes it’s relationship issues that bring a person to seek counselling. Cognitive behavioural therapy is the technique utilized.
